I was using berkley trilene xl smooth casting on all of my reels but then heard a lot of good things about stren original (purple label) and i purchased a few different spools in the green color, and love it now The stren folks have always spoken of line properties. I find it seems to tie up better, and it handles better
Pictures of Syren De Mer
Just my take on it though. The really major breakthrough came from dupont who developed the stren product and hot on the heels were the berkley products I have original stren in cbf on all of my reels except one
It's great for line watching day or night (black light)
Dr keith jones made a comment in his book, based on his studies that clear blue fluorescent might be the least visible to bass I don't remember the exact quote but that was the gist of it. Looks like pure fishing finally discontinued it Fortunately, i discovered sunline super natural last year & it actually held up somewhat better than the stren through the season
Still, stren is mostly what i've used since childhood Even though i've found a similar, & indeed superior pr. Stren monofilament is more expensive, but does the quality reflect the price, or is the big game better I'm going to buy a bulk spool of one of these for all around stuff
Which should i go with?
Hoping for some guidance from some of the reel repair guys I have an abu garcia 5600 plus that was given me by a neighbor to clean up and spool to see if worked and fishable Took it apart, cleaned and lubed as much as i could, spooled with some original stren mono and took it to a local point a. Out of the above brands of regular mono fishing lines, pline, sufix, trilene, bps xrs, like to get some feedback as to which would be the preferred to use
Not primarily fishing rocks or heavy cover but open water Sure would like some feedback? The big game was the opposite
The lowest it broke at was 8.5lb, but also broke at almost 16 Another thing that i noticed was that the stren stretched a good amount more than big game Just thought i would share my experiment. Today i accidentally bought clear blue fluorescent line instead of my normal clear line
Years ago i used to use this line and loved how highly visible it was Made my line very easy to see Recently i had been remembering this and thought i might try it again I had originally quit using it when.
